BHVS on X

We were based for the day in the beautiful Dorchester Library on the first floor of the RCP pic.twitter.com/SW6HoGrY7d

— BHVS (@BrHeartValveSoc) October 13, 2023

Next, Prof @EnochAkowuah1 informed us about the proposed NAVIGATE Bicuspid RCT, which aims to compare surgery vs TAVI in patients with bicuspid aortic valves pic.twitter.com/9WFfOhzu4S

— BHVS (@BrHeartValveSoc) October 13, 2023

Prof @EnochAkowuah1 also mentioned nascent discussions about a RCT of mechanical va biological valves in adults aged 50-65

The slide showing the variation in practice between UK hospitals is quite incredible…worth a closer look! pic.twitter.com/fJysZwA1Zh

Next, we were thrilled to welcome @bapat_savrtavr who joined us live from Seoul airport (!) to present his experience of surgery to explant failing TAVI valves…not an easy task & not low risk for patients pic.twitter.com/33c9cs8UKC

After coffee we returned for va minimally invasive cardiac surgery session with @BISMICS pic.twitter.com/ing1Z9sJsR

— BHVS (@BrHeartValveSoc) October 13, 2023

However, half the UK's cardiac centres do not have any minimally invasive cardiac surgeons/surgery and most operation are not by the minimally invasive approach… although the % is rising pic.twitter.com/mhequpJ0wv

— BHVS (@BrHeartValveSoc) October 13, 2023

Miss @MsRashmiYadav then presented the various minimally invasive surgical procedures that could be performed in patients with prior mitral valve repair that need repeat intervention pic.twitter.com/eXsxBwGlHO

— BHVS (@BrHeartValveSoc) October 13, 2023

Dr Rob Smith discussed mitral TEER & TMVR whilst Dr Patterson discussed tricuspid TEER

We heard interesting perspectives on TRILUMINATE data & discussed quality of life metrics

The interventionists spoke of how much better patients seem to feel after tricuspid TEER pic.twitter.com/B3D2A64y9J

After coffee, we had probably the most thought-provoking session

Mr Samer Nashef spoke about the Time Until Treatment Equipoise (TUTE) concept & the calculator he has developed to help clinicians and patients understand risks/benefits of intervention pic.twitter.com/WQ6UO4IJBk

— BHVS (@BrHeartValveSoc) October 13, 2023

Following on, Dr @guyll from @BartsHospital gave a very thoughtful talk on lifetime management of HVD, and what does this mean pic.twitter.com/hE9W9Vwmkp

This was a great finishing slide… pic.twitter.com/GNqJD4lOXc
