The British Heart Valve Society (BHVS) is a registered charity in England and Wales (no.1147736). We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (no. CSN9627156) in the UK under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our registered office is at 33 Turbine Way, Echotech Business Park, Swaffham, PE37 7XD. The BHVS is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This notice sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. What information we collect

We may collect and process the following data about you: Information you give us. If you wish to benefit from any of the services that BHVS offer via our website (www.bhvs.org.uk) and/or to register for BHVS events you may need to provide us with certain personal information. You may give us your personal details by filling in forms on our site or by corresponding with us by phone, e-mail or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you register for membership, events, electronic newsletters, forums or communities or any other services which we provide now or in the future and when you communicate via our website. We may also collect information relating to your employment, including where you are currently employed, your job title, areas of interest/expertise and your job function if this is relevant to your membership. The BHVS respects the privacy of its members and website users and aims to act consistently with the EU General Data Protection Regulations and data protection. We will not, unless otherwise stated, share your personal information with any third parties but if you choose to purchase any subscriptions, services or publications from us we will pass your personal information to a secure, third-party payment service provider and any such third party will require further information from you in order to process your payment.

Where we store your personal data

We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated and stored securely and in accordance with the BHVS privacy policy. The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the facilitating of services which you have requested or which we provide, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services.
