Miss Charlotte Turner is a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist, with specialist interest and expertise in heart valve disease, based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. She has a first-class Honours degree in Cardiac Physiology, a Master’s degree in diagnostic imaging and is currently undertaking a Masters module in pathophysiology and clinical assessment at the University of Swansea.

Initially starting as the lead physiologist for TAVI services in 2016, she has progressed to lead physiologist for a large, multidisciplinary valve service – overseeing specialist and sonographer-led valve clinics containing around 3,000 patients and 7 highly specialist sonographers / scientists.  Alongside the consultants, she has helped the valve service expand by creating SOPs, follow-up guidelines and a training programme.  She is currently developing a specialist screening clinic allowing rapid access to advanced imaging for patients with a new murmur, and confirmed severe valve disease with new symptoms. She is also working towards developing sonographer-led clinics for post-intervention and aortopathy patients.

Charlotte provides advanced training to sonographers, nurses and registrars. She actively engages with regional teams by hosting regular virtual meetings and providing training/guidance to sonographers who wish to establish their own valve services.  She is also a member of the BSE exam prep course committee.
