We are delighted to invite applications to join the newly created BHVS Trainee Committee.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the activities of a national society, play a role in BHVS educational activities on a national level, represent your region, and gain experience in medical education leadership.
The BHVS trainee committee aims to maintain broad multidisciplinary representation. Applicants are invited from:
- Cardiology trainees with an interest in heart valve disease
- Cardiology interventional and cardiac surgical trainees
- Cardiac imaging trainees
- Clinical scientists/cardiac physiologists
- Valve specialist nurses
We are seeking motivated trainees who are willing to commit to the committee for a minimum of one year, with the possibility of extending for a second year by mutual agreement.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with an interest in medical education, event organisation, digital engagement, and social media.
Our aim is to have trainee representatives from across the UK, who can act as the BHVS representative for their region.

Commitment to the BHVS Trainee Committee
This role offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to supporting the educational activities of the BHVS nationally.
Responsibilities of successful candidates will include:
1. Organising webinars:
Each member will be expected to organise at least one full webinar during their term. Webinars will be part of a structured annual webinar programme designed to provide accessible, practical, and guideline-focused education to trainees and healthcare professionals with an interest in heart valve disease.
- Identifying/inviting/coordinating speakers
- Logistical/administrative input
- Applying for CPD accreditation from the RCP
- Assisting with webinar upload and promoting on the BHVS website and social media platforms
2. Submitting a case of the month
- Each member is expected to submit at least one interesting valve case with education value during their term following a previously agreed format.
- Writing and organising a case submission and liaising with a member of the BHVS education committee for final edit
- Assist with case of the month upload on the BHVS website
3. Communications & Social Media
- Promote committee activities and act as social media ambassadors
- Coordinate social media engagement
- Assist with publicity and member outreach
4. Supporting the committee in organising the BHVS annual meetings
5. Attendance at online meetings with the Education and Training Committee (≥80% attendance)
