
Dr Sanjeev Bhattacharyya is a consultant cardiologist at both University College London Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. He is the clinical lead for echocardiography. He is actively involved in all aspects of valve services including running a specialised valve clinic, being part of the aortic, mitral and tricuspid multi-disciplinary teams and supporting the structural valve service
Dr Bhattacharyya graduated from the University of Manchester and underwent cardiology training in North-West London including the Royal Brompton, Harefield and Hammersmith hospitals. He was awarded his MD(Res) for research into acquired heart valve disease from UCL. He continues to lead research in this area and has published more than 140 peer reviewed papers. He supervises several PhD students whose research is focused on understanding the natural history of heart valve disease and techniques to better characterize the optimal timing of intervention in heart valve disease.
